Here are our top 15 must have items for a plane flight. Whether you are traveling domestic or international, a comfortable flight is a great way to start your trip. These items will make your flight more relaxing and enjoyable.
Ear buds: We never leave home without a couple sets. Use them for inflight entertainment, music or movies on your smart phone or tablet, or to block out noise with the White Noise app.
Smart Phone or Tablet: Even though you won’t be able to make calls on your smart phone mid-flight, you can download the Kindle app and read a book, play a game of candy crush, watch a downloaded movie, or use the white noise app to block out sound and get some much-needed shut eye.
White Noise App: I honestly do not know how I traveled prior to this app. I use it on the plane and throughout all my travels. It drowns out noise such as a baby’s cry, snoring, television, and any other unwanted sounds. Download it to your smartphone from the app store, plug in your ear buds, open the app, and select a sound that is soothing to you. Then lay back and relax or take a nap.
Water: Always carry water to fight jet lag and exhaustion. The air on planes is extremely dry. Stay as hydrated as possible to fight off sickness and fatigue. You cannot take water through security so plan to pick some up after security or take a water bottle and fill it from a water fountain. International Travelers beware of local water, always best practice to purchase bottled water overseas.
Anti-Bacteria wipes / wet wipes: Wipe the tray table, seat belt, and seat handles to disinfect. Remove germs from your hands before you eat. Freshen up in the restroom before landing.
Facial Wipes: Keep your face feeling fresh and hydrated. Remove old makeup and refresh with new.
Medicines – be prepared for the in-flight headache, nausea, heartburn, or whatever else might ale you.
Ear plugs: If you have issues with your ears when flying, try ear plugs and a stick of gum. They really do help.
Socks: The floor of the plane can get cold so take a pair of socks. They will keep your feet warm and allow you to remove your shoes for a more comfortable flight.
Scarf: This is a must have travel item. You can use it to keep warm on the flight and throughout your travels. Checkout our blog post for different ways to use a scarf during your trip. Travel Uses for a Scarf
Neck pillow: If you don’t want to carry a neck pillow throughout your entire trip then try an inflatable one. Neck pillows will help you sleep better on long flights. The right neck pillow provides neck support and a comfortable place for you head.
Reading glasses: Not everyone might need these but chances are if you are over 45 you will. Whether reading from your Kindle app or completing an arrival form, they come in handy.
Snacks: If you are like us you don’t always like the airplane food or you get hungry in between meals. Take along some flight friendly snacks to munch on. Remember though, if you are traveling internationally, there are certain items you cannot bring back into the United States. Be sure to consume your snacks on the plane or leave them behind.
Charging Brick: There is nothing worse than a dead smart phone or tablet. Some airlines offer USB charging ports in the seats but many don’t. Take along a decent size charging brick as backup
Eye Mask: If you want to get some sleep but have issues with light or shadows, throw on an eye mask and it will be instant dark.
