Las Vegas joined 4 other states this past Saturday when they legalized the sale of recreational marijuana. Both residents and tourists congregated to the dispensaries. Concerts, drawings, and giveaways were held in Las Vegas style to draw in customers.
Millennials are pro-marijuana and this is just another way to market to their generation. The state senator believes this is a game changer for Las Vegas tourism. They believe that tourists will account for 2/3rds of the sales while residents 1/3rd.
NOTE: Marijuana use is strictly prohibited on the strip and in any gaming establishment.
You must be 21 and have a valid ID to purchase up to one ounce or 1/8 ounce of concentrate. The dispensaries only accept cash due to federal laws. Banks are reluctant to do business with he marijuana industry. Sales will be subject to a 10% special tax. This tax will be used for the state’s “rainy day fund”.
