Don’t over plan you trip! In our early days of traveling we tried to squeeze as much in as possible. Now we pick a few places and make the most of them.
When you are paying for air travel overseas it is easy to get caught up in the idea of seeing as much as humanly possibly. By doing this you might see a lot of places but you won’t be able to relax and really enjoy them. It will decrease your trip quality and add unneeded stress.
Instead make sure you have a minimum of three nights at each destination. We live by the 3 night minimum rule. The first day you arrive you will be settling in. The second day you can wake up refreshed and spend the day seeing all your favorite sites. The third day you can see what you didn’t have a chance to the first and second day and then get a good night’s sleep for the next destination.
Once you know your preferred destinations – do some homework. Plan the sites you want to see ahead of time and be sure to check opening and closing times. Make a rough schedule of your day but leave room for spontaneity. Some of our favorite places can’t be found in a travel book or website. They are places we stumbled upon.
If you are in a hurry to see EVERYTHING you will miss the great little things. Relax and enjoy your destination.
